ABOUT

On behalf of everyone at the Phi Chi house, we congratulate you on your recent acceptance to Creighton University School of Medicine! As you are likely unfamiliar with Omaha, one of your first hurdles of medical school will be finding housing.

Phi Chi Medical Fraternity is a co-ed fraternity that includes students in all four years of medical school. If you are hesitant about living in a "Frat house," we would like to assure you that we are not a typical "Fraternity" in the Animal House image. We are more akin to a co-op, with a mission to encourage our residents to excel in their studies, friendships, and recreation. You will make fast friends with other first year students as well as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students who live in the house. Still not convinced? Check out the residential details on the right to see some of the other benefits of living in the Phi Chi house.

If you would like to get the most out of your first year of medical school, please consider living at Phi Chi. If interested, please visit the CONTACT page for more details. Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis every spring.

RESIDENTIAL DETAILS:

  1. We live in a huge turn-of-the-century mansion. The house includes a dining room, a large entertainment room with a fireplace, couches and cable TV, a library stocked with all required class books, a sun-room, a laundry room, outdoor sand volleyball court, a pool table, and a basement with a dance floor that is great for social events.

  2. Every bedroom is a single and bathroom sharing is minimal (5 bathrooms for a maximum of 13 people). Wireless high-speed internet is available in every room.

  3. The kitchen is complete with pots & pans, plates, utensils, a coffee maker, crockpots, a panini press and much more negating the need to buy personal cookware.

  4. Cooking for dinner occurs on a rotational basis, with each individual member cooking about once every two weeks. This is a great time-saving system for house members, and occurs for dinners every week from Sunday through Thursday. Grocery shopping is additionally done on a rotational basis, with each person shopping about once every 2 months.

  5. Rent includes food, utilities, laundry fees, cable, and internet. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal anywhere else.

  6. The house provides a relaxed social outlet after long days of class and studying. It's nice to come home to a house full of friends, chill out on the living room couches, and have someone cook dinner for you while you begin the evening's studying.

  7. Realistically, when you need to study, there are no problems with noisy neighbors: this is a house of medical students, and everyone is going through the same thing.

  8. Social functions! The house hosts one all-school social function each semester and holds a house activity monthly. Social functions are totally awesome, but not mandatory.

  9. Phi Chi is a mere two miles from the medical school, which is important during winter and ideal for late risers, people without cars, and anyone who hates wasting time commuting. We are also within walking distance of the beautiful UNMC library. We have our own parking lot with space for the cars of every resident.
